Gizmo found: Police recover dog beaten in viral video

City of Poughkeepsie Police investigating dog beating

City of Poughkeepsie police have recovered a dog whose beating last month in Pulaski Park was video-recorded, posted on Facebook and went viral.

The dog, named Gizmo, was recovered by city detectives in Brooklyn Thursday.

Police say the beating took place on Dec. 28 at the park, near Talmadge Street.

Last week, police announced they had identified a suspect seen in the video beating Gizmo and issued an arrest warrant for Theophilus Burke, a 37-year-old Brooklyn man.

Burke faces a charge of animal cruelty and remains at large.

Anyone with information on his whereabouts is asked to call the City of Poughkeepsie police at 845-451-7577.

The video on YouTube was such a poor quality that I would foist it on Blur Brain readers. Below is the original video as it was posted on Facebook.

Judging by the mugshot that was on file this guy has a police record already. Well, the dog is safe and real animal is on the run.
