meteorNo cool video evidence this time, just second hand eyewitness reports.

An object reportedly fell from the sky and exploded loudly over the province of Cienfuegos in southern Cuba, the local TV service Rodas cites eyewitnesses as saying. Residents described the object as being comparable in size to a bus, adding that their houses shook following the explosion. Cuban specialists are examining the scene for potential remains of the object. No damages or injuries have been reported.

Translation: “I have family in Rodas who tell me that many people are still bewildered and stunned by the fall of the meteorite”

The timeline between the Russian meteorite and this event is unclear but both occurred at about the time that asteroid was making it’s close approach to Earth.

You can well imagine what might have happened had these events occurred back at the height of the cold war. It’s also less than comforting to know that at a time when we should be considering a planetary defense strategy against the inevitable asteroid impact, Obama is hell bent on dismantling NASA.
