We often mock the Left and rightly so because the outcome of their good intentions always fall short. In the end, it’s the result that matters more than the goal.
Klaus Rohrich over at Canada Free Press echoes my sentiments on the matter in his post “Give The Democrats The Rope With Which To Hang Themselves.”
What Ted Cruz did was noble, courageous and rallied the troops but it changed nothing and perhaps that’s the best possible outcome.
Proposals to delay the Individual Mandate or defund ObamaCare only give Democrats breathing room.
In the end the full weigh of the calamitous law will be felt, but any tinkering the GOP forces on the Democrats in the meantime will only be used by the Democrats later as an excuse for why the law didn’t achieve it’s lofty goals. “It would’ve worked, but those darned Republicans broke it.”
Delay or defunding is not the same as a repeal. Remember, it was the impending uncertainties of the law that hobbled business. Until the law is repealed those uncertainties will continue to haunt the private sector.
Even if both houses agreed to defund the law with a veto proof majority Obama would find the money elsewhere. He’d cut military spending, school lunch programs and the social safety net. Anything and everything short of his vacations and golf outings.
And then he’d blame all those cuts on the mean old GOP who only oppose him because they’re beholden to the racist TEA Party, blah, blah.
As for the Democrats in the Senate who would have to join with the GOP in opposing ObamaCare, well that would get swept under the carpet. They were just doing what they had to in order to get re-elected in their “red state” districts.
No, the people voted this regime into power and now they deserve to taste the fruits of their decision. Only when they see their incomes decline as taxes increase and the cost of now mandatory health insurance rise they’ll wake from their pop-culture induced coma.
When they can no longer watch Miley Cyrus make a fool of herself or Tweet about it because they had to drop their cable TV and smart phone plan so they can pay the rent, eat and pay their health insurance obligation as required by law, then and only then will they see their error.
And when that day comes, let the Democrats own it, lock, stock and barrel.
Then the GOP will be in a position to offer an alternative, prosperity. Jobs, rising incomes and home values, less government intrusion, lower taxes. All the stuff we used to enjoy before Obama came along.
Update: Right now I hear Rush totally disagreeing with everything I just wrote. I rarely part company with Rush on matters of political strategy. But in this case I must. Because, like I laid out above, there is no alternative.
The law will go into effect regardless. We’ll never repeal it until the Democrats who passed it have been utterly disgraced in the eyes of the voters.
