A father shot and killed a robber who forced his way into his family home as his wife put their four young daughters to bed.
The 26-year-old father was at home with his family in Philadelphia on Monday night when he answered the door to the unnamed robber at around 11pm.
He was shot in the face and leg but was able to return fire and kill his attacker as he forced his way into their home.
He was taken to hospital where he is expected to recover. Police said it was unlikely any charges would be brought against him.
The robber was found dead at the scene with a gun shot wound to the head.
Good work, and under extreme duress I might add. Fortunately, no other innocents were harmed and the taxpayers were saved the expense of a trial, court appointed lawyer and housing and feeding the criminal.
Thankfully the father had the foresight to arm himself before answering the door. I know some may think that extreme but really, if you have a handgun for self defense, then it never hurts to tuck it in your waistband or pocket before answering an unexpected knock on the door regardless the time of day.
A gun unloaded and locked away is of no use when it’s needed most.
