An ‘alcoholic’ Iranian man could be granted refugee status in Australia over fears he will be executed for drinking booze if he goes home.
The man, who cannot be identified for legal reasons, told the Federal Circuit Court that he had already committed two alcohol-related offences in Iran – where drinking is illegal for Muslims under Sharia law.
The man told the court that he had twice been in trouble in Iran for alcohol-related offences, in 2009 and 2012, The Australian reported.
He claimed that people can be executed in Iran for breaking their strict laws on alcohol for a third time.
Well that’s definitely a new angle for asylum seekers.
Although the court rejected his asylum plea, the matter has been referred for appeal, because gawd knows, if there is one thing Australia needs it’s more drunkards, particularly a Muslim since they’re not crazy enough even when sober.
Thankfully the land of Oz will never be petitioned to accept Muslim wife beaters, pedophiles, donkey humpers or sheep shaggers because none of that is a crime under Sharia law.
