Wow, all the talk from us bloggers really must’ve gotten under his thin skin. The photo credit claims it was taken on Aug. 4, 2012 at Camp David. Could’ve been taken yesterday for all I know.
“President Barack Obama shoots clay targets on the range at Camp David, Md., Saturday, Aug. 4, 2012. (Official White House Photo by Pete Souza),” the caption reads.
“This official White House photograph is being made available only for publication by news organizations and/or for personal use printing by the subject(s) of the photograph. The photograph may not be manipulated in any way and may not be used in commercial or political materials, advertisements, emails, products, promotions that in any way suggests approval or endorsement of the President, the First Family, or the White House.”
I did see a report that Obama made an appearance at an annual military skeet shoot held at Camp David last year as is traditional for the President to do. There was no mention that he took part in the event or fired a gun. The guy who made the report said that Obama only stayed five minutes and looked uncomfortable.
The gun pictured appears to be an over/under shotgun, perhaps 20 or 28 gauge with vented barrels (to further reduce recoil). The sort of gun intended for small women and children or expert marksmen seeking to challenge themselves.
Most skeet shooters prefer a 12 gauge with fairly short barrels and improved cylinder choke. Skeet is rapid fire, close range shooting and you want maximum spread.
Special note to PETA: No Skeets were harmed in the making of this photo-op.
Now this is how real men shoot skeet…

I wonder why he would rush out to stage this photo?
