• Despite Sequestration Silly Research Grants Continue

Interpretive danceDespite Obama’s apocalyptic threats over sequestration it’s comforting to know that a mountain of money is still being pissed away on stupid nonsensical research.

Here are a few examples just from San Diego: A $10,000 matching federal grant for interpretive dance called “Trolley Dances.” $5.9 million to study “novel paradigms of diabetic complications.” $2.5 million to study Alzheimer’s disease. $600,000 for “the promotion of physical activity in churchgoing Latinas.” $550,000 for UCSD research into “safer sex intervention for male clients of female sex workers in Tijuana.”

$2 billion in federal money just to San Diego county agencies and groups, while the American people are being threatened with cuts to essential services.

I’m sure if you looked at every county in the US the total amount spent on such nonsense would far exceed the sequestration’s $85 billion in spending cuts.

Of course, this has been brought to Obama’s attention, yet he steadfastly refuses to allow spending to be prioritized. He knows damn well that if these stupid programs and grants were cut off, nobody (aside from the recipients of this largess) would notice or care. He means to cause as much grief as possible as a bargaining chip to get even more tax increases.

The solution to this blackmale blackmail is to make do despite his attempted coercion. Learn to live without Uncle Sam’s help. Do for yourself instead of running to the feds. Make your own way in life and screw the government.

Remember back in the 1990s when the country was prosperous? The feds noticed that people weren’t signing up for foodstamps. They panicked! They started running advertisements on TV reminding people that they might qualify for federal handouts.

The government is like a drug dealer and every drug dealer hates to see their customers checking into rehab. That’s what this country needs, rehab. We need to learn to live clean and sober without the narcotic called big government.
